English Language Arts

The FAMU DRS English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum is in alignment with Florida’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) which were adopted by the State Board of Education on February 12, 2020. The B.E.S.T. Standards for English Language Arts were fully implemented in the 2022-2023 school year.

ELA courses utilize state-approved adopted instructional materials to teach the state benchmarks. The FAMU DRS Leadership Team provides a scope and sequence for ELA Instruction, as well as supplemental instructional resources.

The FAMU DRS Leadership Team works to support teachers in their efforts to provide rigorous curriculum and instruction to all students and ensure that all students throughout our district have equal access to a quality education.
