data
Welcome to the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Developmental Research School District Data and Accountability Department. We strive to efficiently and effectively utilize data for accountability, advancement, student achievement, and school improvement.

Our Data Strategy is to provide instructors, instructional leaders, and district leaders with actionable, relevant, accurate, and timely data to utilize in core school improvement areas: student achievement, quality instruction, school culture and climate, and student demographics. Having relevant, timely, and accurate data allows teachers, faculty, administration, and stakeholders the opportunity to appropriately monitor student progress/student achievement as a key component of school improvement. Additionally, having relevant, timely, and accurate data drives data driven instruction, policies, and practices. By collaborating with other departments, FAMU, the Florida Department of Education, and other stakeholders, we strive to provide you with the most up-to-date data program and performance data. Our department will continually update this site as we receive or are appraised of new data, statutes/legislation, standards, research, and/or policies. We welcome your feedback and are hopeful the information we provide meets or exceeds your needs.

NWEA MAP Growth
(NWEA = Northwest Evaluation Association)

NWEA is one of the primary K-12 progress monitoring tools utilized by Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS). Specifically, we utilize the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Growth assessment.

NWEA is a research-based, not-for-profit organization that supports students and educators worldwide by creating assessment solutions that precisely measure growth and proficiency—and provide insights to help tailor instruction. For 40 years, NWEA has developed Pre-K–12 assessments and professional learning offerings to help advance all students along their optimal learning paths. Our tools are trusted by educators in more than 9,500 schools, districts, and education agencies in 145 countries.

The Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) is a suiteof assessments that deliver data needed to make a difference in student progress: MAP® Growth™ measures areas that are related to Florida standards.

The NWEA assessment is administered three to four times each year. Assessment Period 1 (AP1) is the beginning-of-the-year assessment utilized to provide baseline/diagnostic academic data. Assessment Period 2 (AP2) is the interim/mid-year assessment utlized to provide data regarding students' progress at the mid-year data point. Assessment Period 3 (AP3) is the end-of-the-year progrss monitoring data point utilized to determine students' progress after a year of instruction. AP1 assessments are typically administered between the months of August-December. AP2 assessments are typically administered between the months of January-March. AP3 assessments are typically administered between the months of April-May. If necessary, students will be administered the NWEA assessment over the summer months (June-July) during Assessment Period 4 (AP4).

FLDOE Cambium APM
(Florida Department of Education Cambium Adaptive Progress Monitoring Tool)

The Adaptive Progress Monitoring (APM) tool is an online assessment tool to help assess students’ current knowledge, skills, and abilities in grades 3–10 Reading and grades 3–8 Mathematics. The items used are aligned to Florida Reading and Mathematics standards, and results will be reported using the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) reporting scale. This tool is being offered by the Florida Department of Edcation to help districts, schools, and teachers gauge how students are performing academically.

The APM may be administered twice each year during the assessment periods established by the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Developmental Research School. Assessment Period 1 (AP1) is typically administered during the beginning of the year - between the months of August - December to provide baseline/diagnostic academic data. Assessment Period 2 (AP2) is typically administered between the months of January-March. The last day of AP2 is established by the Florida Department of Education based upon their APM open testing window dates.

iReady

i‑Ready is a comprehensive assessment and instruction program that empowers educators with the resources they need to help all students succeed. iReady has online assessment and instruction features that helps teachers provide all students a path to proficiency and growth in reading and mathematics. The K–8 core reading and mathematics programs spark meaningful discourse, strengthens understanding, and inspires learning, while also providing data to allow teachers to differentiate and individualize instruction and meet students where they are academically.

Climate Surveys

Conditions in schools are very important. The purpose of our annual climate surveys is to gather input from teachers, faculty/staff, administrators, students, and parents/guardians on the various factors that have affected working conditions and stakeholder performance in our school. This includes, but is not limited to, parent and community involvement, leadership, professional learning, classroom support, safety, and, of course, modifications due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Data from these surveys are used to inform the Office of Superintendent, the District Data and Accountability Department, school-based administrators, and teachers as data driven policy and instructional decisions are made. Stakeholder responses are important, and we thank all respondents for taking the time to complete the surveys. All information collected from the climate surveys are collected with informed consent and reported in the aggregate. Surveys are administered through the Cognia system and names of individual respondents are NOT collected, reported, or correlated with responses, nor are individual surveys or survey responses shared. Participation is voluntary and CONFIDENTIAL (and anonymous); all respondents/stakeholders are asked to please be HONEST in their responses (and if they feel they cannot be honest, they are asked to please do NOT take the survey). *Cognia is our accrediting body and FAMU DRS has no control of or access to individual survey responses. Responses are provided to the district from Cognia as comprehensive survey response reports.
