6th period Civics Assignments

It's the moment you all have been waiting for! The Last Assignment of the School Year!

Here's how it works: the assignment you submit here is mandatory, and it will go in as a test grade (20%). Maybe you're thinking "Ms. Wilson, my test average is fine, I need something to help my classwork grade (70%). I am going to open up a different submission portal for you to do ANOTHER one for extra credit worth 70% (I'll explain more in another post)

The project instructions for each one are down below in both PDF and Microsoft Word Doc form in case your computer can't open the PDF format.

EVERYONE should check back to this assignment regularly as I update it with instructions and checklists, but I wanted to go ahead and post it now so that some people can go ahead and get started on it. Included below is the same Project list from before.

Use what you've learned about federalism and the powers the executives have on a national, state, and local level to answer this question. In other words, though there are no "wrong" answers, "because I want to be the big boss" is not a good answer (and will probably cost you some points).

1. For today, I want you to first watch the lesson videos for Chapter 9 Sections 1 and 2.
2. Then, I want you to play "Counties Work" on icivics.org (https://www.icivics.org/games/counties-work)
You don't have to register and create an account to play, you can just click "no thanks", however, if you don't make an account the game will NOT save your progress, and so if you leave the game before finishing it, you will have to start all over.
3. Take a screenshot of the completion page to provide proof of completion. I've already uploaded several tutorials on different ways to take screenshots for proof for different assignments (I'll try to include a shortened video here). Easiest way to do it for this game would be to right click the screen, click "print", and instead of printing it, change it to "save as PDF" or "save to google drive" to submit it that way.

(I'll excuse one of your classwork assignments if you drop a selfie, I'll excuse one of your zeros or add 50 points to lowest grade if it's one of you RIGHT NOW, and I'll give you a 100 on your lowest assignment grade from March if it's a video of at least 10 seconds of you saying hey to everyone RIGHT NOW (no edits or filters just your beautiful shining face... okay you can use a face filter but you get it, NO old pictures. In fact, put a time stamp on it so I know it's real))

As always, let me know if you have trouble doing so (my number is on their too). If your parents have an issue with you joining the group chat, no worries! Send me a text personally saying hello from THEIR (your parents) number. I'll still give you extra points if you include a picture :)

Good morning! We are finally going to finish out this chapter. I hope you enjoyed the last 2 weeks of no work in my class, but now we're going to do some things to finish this chapter and move onto the next.

I've got some things cooking for y'all!! Last lazy week we're going to have (hopefully). But, my wifi is down today and I can't use ALL my poor little data, so my activity will be minimal today so that Verizon doesn't charge me an arm, leg, and a kidney my next phone bill 🙃.

this is just for if you were trying to study or get a better Quizizz score for Chapter 8. Not a new assignment, the link just expired so I have to post another one.

You only need to play this if you plan on taking or retaking the Ch. 8 test for tomorrow. So if you missed the test the first time, if you took it but want a better grade on the test, or if you just want a better grade on this assignment, then this is for you. Otherwise, you're good to go!

I understand that the last question on the reading passage may be difficult to understand and answer (especially if you didn't read section 4 yesterday or the reading passage) so below is a video (where I look really crazy in the little screenshot part) to help!

In a way I've asked this before sorta kinda, and when I ask what "federalism" is then I've definitely asked about the first 2 levels multiple times. Tell me what all 3 are.

We're starting chapter 9 today! So, read Section 1 in the PDF, and open the attached Google Doc to take your notes, I've already outlined the section beautifully for you so all you have to do is replace my hints with important details and vocabulary. I've also already included just how many bullets of information I want per heading but if you want to add more feel free to do so.

Underneath that is the classwork questions for today. Question is already typed up, all you have to do is answer it!

You all have asked and I've finally given it to you, yes, your notes are a grade! They will be tied into your classwork grade 50/50, so make sure you do them.

You do not have to take physical notes, but if you feel like they would help, you can download them directly from cpalms or use the one I've attached below (easier to type on).
