Rattler focus 3/26/20 The Periodic Table

Good afternoon students!

1. Your first assignment for today will be to complete your Rattler focus two ways. You will be keeping a hard copy (ie. on notebook paper, in binder, etc.) "diary" style with each entry that you are assigned, dated with both the questions and the answers. You will also type your daily question(s) and answer(s) in a word document or google doc and submit by uploading daily to the google classroom for our class period.

2. Today's Rattler focus (032620)
How did Dimitri Mendeleev organize his periodic table and what criteria was he using to develop his version of the periodic table? Be sure to write in complete sentences your answer.

3. Continue work on your previously assigned "How Is It Arranged" guiding notes packet.

4. I will upload (as an assignment) by 2pm today a copy of this assignment for all students to complete and submit. This electronic version will be especially beneficial for those students that were absent when the packet was distributed and for those that forgot to take their packet home.

5. You will need the hard copy to turn in upon return to school, so continue doing that. I will need all students to type their answers on the electronic version that will be provided later today.

6. Check a couple of times daily to be aware of any additions or changes :)

1. Welcome back to your studies students. As we work through this "new" way of disseminating instruction I ask that you follow instructions, be flexible, and put your "best foot forward."
2. We will begin with the Rattler focus (this will actually be due daily)
Please also write the question and your answer on notebook paper as has been expected in class. You will bring this in when we return to class in the building. You will complete this on the day due as a record on your attendance and participation on assignments. Thank you in advance for your cooperation:)
3. Rattler focus (3/24/20) Name, date, class period on the right hand top of your paper.
How are elements arranged on the periodic table?
What can you learn about elements from the periodic table?
4. Before we separated for the Spring Break, you were given a packet to be used with Chapter 7 (The Periodic Table) for completion as directed on the google classroom. I would like for you to complete the page titled "How Is It Arranged" which is used to activate your prior knowledge. Please make sure to write a minimum of 3-5 sentences.
5. Continue on pg. 223 of the packet and complete the K (what I know) and W (what I want to learn) portions of this assignment. Please also complete pgs. 224-225 of this guiding notes packet. You are welcome to use reliable sites on the internet. These guiding notes goes with Glencoe Florida Course 3 i Science copyright 2012 which has an owl on the cover but can be completed by utilizing other resources. Since we are transitioning to an "online" delivery, I am allowing a little extra time for the first couple of days in order for you to complete your work.
6. Check daily for additional assignments with instructions as applicable.

Due:

The Periodic Table
"How are they arranged?" pgs. 222-225 in Google Classroom

Rattler focus 3/25/20 The Periodic Table

Good afternoon students. Welcome back to school for the 4th nine week session.
1. For your daily rattler focus I will need you to complete it two different ways. The first way is hard copy on notebook paper, remember name/date/class period on the topic right corner, which will be completed "diary" style as we have done all year. You will turn in all entries dated properly with questions and answers upon return to school. For your daily online instruction you will type your daily Rattler Focus in a word document or google docs and submit it daily by uploading. This serves two purposes, one is for attendance and the other is to verify your academics and earn a grade. '
Please make sure you are adding the attachment otherwise it shows up as turned in, however I have nothing to review or to grade!

2. Today's Rattler Focus (03/25/20):
Why is the periodic table organized by increasing atomic numbers?

3. Please review yesterday's instructions regarding your work on the "How is it Arranged" guiding notes packet. Make sure you complete the portion requested by tomorrow before midnight.
4. There were a few students that were absent when the packet was distributed so it will take me a bit of time to type this up for them. I will make it available as soon as it is completed so students should check back periodically. All other students should continue using internet resources at this time as they complete their requested assignment.
5. Watch for further instructions as we progress
