Coach GrangerCoach Gene Granger, a 2003 graduate of Charleston Southern University, was a three-year letterman for the Buccaneers, a Division 1 program in the Big South Conference. The Florida native earned his bachelor’s degree from CSU in Business Management. Granger, a shooting guard in his playing days and three-year starter, was the team captain for the Bucs as a Junior and Senior. Granger, took his natural talents as a leader into the coaching profession. Prior to Charleston Southern, he played on season(1999-2000) at Tallahassee Community College, where the team went 25-5 and spent most of the year ranked # 1 in the nation, never dropping out of the top five. Granger, a 1999 graduate of Florida High School in Tallahassee, earned many outstanding honors. The co-captain also scored over 1,200 points in his prep career, and played in two consecutive Class 3A State Final Fours.
Granger began his coaching career in 2003 as an assistant at Florida Southern College. As one of the premier Division II programs in the nation, FSC went to the Sunshine Conference Championship and Division II NCAA Tournament. Granger spent a period of time during 2004 touring Italy as an assistant to a Professional Basketball player in the FIBA League. After returning from over-seas, Granger began a career in teaching math at the secondary level. To complete the 2011 and 2012 basketball seson, Granger took his recent team, FAMU DRS, to the Class 1A and 2A State Final Four. Granger enjoys spending time with his friends, family and his wife Lindsey.
